REELS Should be REAL!

If you are trying to grow your following and reach on Instagram, you should start creating fun engaging Reels!

In short, Reels are short videos that can be up to 60 seconds long. Similar to TikTok, you can create those videos through the Instagram app using the edit tool, or you can also add any video from your Camera roll.

Reels have proved to attract Instagram audiences a lot faster than normal feed videos. Reach and engagement has started skyrocketing for some influencers and organizations after they introduced Reels to their page.

However, it was not the case for everyone. Some other people and organizations witnessed a drop in their engagement and reach when they used Reels. So what makes a Reel successful? In a nutshell, Reels have to be REAL!

Here are 5 points to consider while creating a new Reel.

1. Edit the Reel using the Instagram Tool

Reels cannot be perfect. They have to be “human.” If you ask your designer to create and edit the perfect Reel, adding an “intro” and an “outro” ..etc, it will probably be skipped by the average person. People jump on Reels to watch content created by other “unprofessional” people. They are here to relate to your video, and NOT to be impressed by your editing skills.

2. Make it Fun and Stay Genuine!

It goes without saying that Reels have to be fun, yet sometimes people put so much effort into making fun that it looks staged. Stay natural, stay you! You know this first take that you keep criticizing? Post this first take and you will be surprised by the result.

3. Do Your Research

This might sound contradictory, yet it’s very important to stay on top of Reel trends. The more you watch Reels the more you will understand the tricks of making it more fun and engaging. From using the right transitions to using the right music. Every single detail matters.

4. Make it Relevant

Yes companies and organizations can post fun and engaging Reels, yet this does not mean posting something very unrelated to your industry and/or organization. People follow you because they are interested in what YOU offer. Hence, you should try to build your ideas around your offerings and employees.

5. Experiment

After considering all the above points, you should still experiment! There is no 1+1=2 when it comes to Social Media. And what works to do can be obsolete tomorrow. You have to try different approaches to learn and know what works best for you and your audience.
