9 Tips to Maximize Engagement on Your Socials!

As a start, I think we can all agree that so much goes into having an online presence. It’s more than just the number of followers you have.

Today, brands need to look further into their performance metrics and track comments, saves, shares, Instagram Stories views, and even DMs to understand how they are performing.

Engagement comes in layers; likes is only the first one.

So, here are 9 tips to ORGANICALLY increase engagement on your socials:

1- Discover your best time to post

Posting times are definitely a thing! You could be limiting your Instagram engagement by posting at random or wrong times, or just not regularly enough. Instagram’s algorithm loves posts that generate a lot of engagement in a short period of time, and will often move that post to the top of your followers’ feeds. To get to the bottom of your best posting time, monitor and track your Instagram analytics or “Insights” section to learn more about when is the best time to post for your audience.

2- Jump on trends

Trends are the essence of social media. Especially now on TikTok and on IG. In their own way, they bring people together, no matter what the trend is. Most of the time, they also offer an insight about you, or a chance for you to talk about yourself or what you do. Let’s not forget how much visibility you can get out of jumping on a trend. How you link it to your identity, or the identity of your brand is the real fun creative challenge.

3- Create sharable content

A third layer of engagement is shares. Shares, shares, shares. It’s invisible engagement. Something that is not apparent on your page, but secretly pushing your content out for you. By creating shareable posts and stories, you’re getting them to reach people than our outside of your regular audience which would result in new followers, and also more exposure.

4- Write longer captions

Believe it or not, how much people spend time on your posts is also part of the Instagram algorithm. By creating longer captions, you are basically telling people to stay here for 5 to 10 seconds longer than usual, and this is being recorded for your own good.

5- Be more “human”

By “human”, I mean the audience needs to know it’s an actual person behind the account, it’s so fun! Of course, this comes down to the whole identify the brand wants to put out but as far as I know, this works for you and not against you. A humanized approach creates a relationship with your followers, your audience. A person that was probably thinking of buying your product could feel more comfortable asking you a question through a Q&A you did on stories and actually buy it after that.

6- Pay closer attention to hashtags

Understanding which hashtags are driving more people to your posts is really important for the short and the long run. If you usually reach around 1000 people through one post without hashtags, with using the right ones, you’ll be able to easily reach 1300-1400. For this, it’s a trial-and-error thing in which you have to try different ones under different posts, but it does work wonders! Also, your posts will now be under something other than your account. For example, a fitness trainer searching for clients will maximize his results of getting discovered by using #dubaifitnesstrainer because if you think about it, none of the potential clients actually know your exact username.

7- Create more video content

Video is king! 2020 was a big year for Instagram video, especially with the introduction of Instagram Reels, and it shows no sign of slowing down in 2021. By incorporating more video content into your content strategy, you’re almost guaranteed to increase engagement on your Instagram profile. And if you’re getting into Instagram Reels for 2021 (hint: you should be!), don’t forget that they’re designed to be fast and fun, and can be used to captivate your audience with funny or educational, fun content.

8- Be relatable, always

Don’t be afraid to start conversations! Put out relatable content that you would share on your social, that you would engage with. Instagram Stories stickers are a great way to encourage your followers to chat and share their opinions and experiences with you, which, in turn, will help create a loyal following that feels connected to your brand.

9- Get people talking!

Test new things and don’t be afraid to take some risks. We don’t want boring formal posts anymore, make room for the memes, the reels and the fun🥳
